How to make:

Step 1

Design your monster shape. We drew the monster outline on a piece of paper and cut it out. This step ensures your monster size is not only a good fit for your shirt but also it will fit all the googly eyes.

Step 2

Once your monster outline is complete, trace the paper onto a large piece of felt and cut it out. We like the contrast of a light blue felt against the black shirt we used. Before you glue the felt monster body onto your shirt, cut out the monster’s mouth. We went with a long oval mouth, and cut out a tongue and cute monster fangs – have fun with it!

Step 3

Time to start hot glueing your 100 googly eyes. This part took the longest.

Our bag of monster eyes only had 90 (grr!). We used puff paint to add 10 more eyes, however this minor hiccup ended up looking very cute with the smaller eyes.

Step 4 (optional)

Give your 100th day of school shirt monster more character. We gave our monster a crown but you could add legs, arms, bows, or even a hat – let your little one pick.

Complete! You now have a super cute monster shirt for the 100th day of school!
