21 Fun Things to Do in Boca Raton with Kids

Boca Raton is known for its luxury shops, perfectly manicured landscapes, amazing restaurants and beautiful golden beaches. I’m lucky to call this family-friendly city home. There’s many fun things to do in Boca Raton with kids – explore outside, cool off ice skating, even pet a kangaroo!

Boomers Arcade & Action Park

More than an arcade, Booms Boca Raton is filled with Fun! Mini Golf, Laser Tag, Go Karts, Batting Cages, Bumper Boats, and even Bumper Cars. Our kids love it here but come prepared to spend money, it adds up quick.

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center

One of the best “free” things to do in Boca Raton with kids! Gumbo Limbo rehabilitates hurt or sick sea turtles with an impressive rehab facility. They also have a few large aquariums where you can see lots of local tropical fish and daily feedings at 12:30. Take a stroll on the wooden boardwalk throughout the 20-acre coastal preserve that takes you out to the intercoastal where you can see boats pass by. Or take a stroll through the butterfly garden – keep an eye out for the large banana spiders!

Boca Ice

Need a place to cool off from the hot Boca Raton heat? Boca Ice & Fine Arts Center offers ice skating, ice bumper cars, hockey, figuring skating and even an Alpine Ski Machine where you can ski and snowboard on. Boca Ice just opened in 2023 and is at the top of our list for things to do in Boca Raton with kids!

Patch Reef Park

One of our favorite parks – the Pirates Cove Playground has a pirate ship, rocks and cargo nets to climb and even a water island splash area with cannon to spray! Patch Reef Park has 6 pickleball and 15 tennis courts, plus athletic facilities consist of 3 soccer/lacrosse fields, 3 baseball fields, and 3 outdoor basketball courts. Need things to do inside on a rainy or very hot summer day? Boca Raton has 2 bowling alleys:

  • Bowlero – located in central boca with 64 bowling lanes and an arcade.
  • Strike 10 – located in Mizner Park with standard bowling lanes and mini bowling (duck pins) and even pool tables.

La-La Land

A15,000 square foot indoor playground that can keep your kids busy for hours. They have a ninja course, a 3-level play structure, slides, foam ball fountains, rope course and even a rock climbing wall. There’s also a separate toddler section for little ones.

Sugar Sands Park

Sugar sands wins best park in Boca Raton by a mile. The massive playground is on a cushioned ground and has a splash pad in the center of it. There’s also a large carousel you can purchase tokens to ride.

Children’s Science Exploratorium

Inside Sugar Sands Park is the indoor Children’s Science Exploratorium which is a hands-on science center with interactive exhibits. Outdoors, there’s more nature trails and a butterfly garden. Kids love to fill up water cans and water the plants outdoors.

Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens

Get outside and stroll(or skip) through the beautiful gardens that feel like your transported to Japan while kids also burn off some energy. The 16 acre garden is filled with bamboo trees, waterfalls, and a world-class bonsai collection. There’s lakes filled with koi fish, turtles and even a few baby alligators.

Mizner Park

A place where kids can have fun but adults love. Mizner park offers amazing restaurants, great shopping, bowling and even movie theater. In the center of this outdoor luxury landmark is a large park with fountains, pergolas, a giant chess board, and a tiny mini golf section.

Looking for a you-pick strawberry farm near me? How about one that makes pizza, homemade ice cream, and has a petting zoo! This place has it all; and I’m not talking about just horses, goats, and bunnies. Yes, they have that as well, but they also have donkeys, exotic birds, pigs, turtles, snakes, lemurs, and even a hedge hog. 

Beach at Spanish River Park

This is our go to beach and its the largest out of all Boca Raton beaches – 95 acres in size. Spanish River Park has almost a mile of beach front access but also offers intracoastal access for fishing and paddle boarding, sand volleyball courts, 120 picnic tables, 116 BBQ grills, and 10 covered pavilions. The playground is large with a zipline kids love.

Bender’s Farm is a must visit in the fall as it’s the closet experience you’ll find to a northern pumpkin patch – pick your own sunflowers and get lost in the corn maze. Throughout the year they offer u-pick vegetables and the main reason my kids want to come is to see all the animals! Pet and feed goats, donkeys, cows, and llamas.
