Atlantis and Baha Mar are some of the nicest resorts, but let’s face it, they’re expensive! Dinners can average $200+ and drinks $16+. We’ve been to both and can share with you how to save money at Atlantis and Baha Mar. The savings can be enough to pay for an excursion like swimming with the famous pigs.

7 Easy Tips to Save Money at Atlantis & Baha Mar
1. Pack Snacks
Being prepared with snacks can save a lot of coin in the morning, and whenever someone wants a snack. We always save room in our luggage and bring snacks for the room or pool. Some of our go to snacks:
- Breakfast bars
- Protein bars
- Chips
- Crackers
- Gummies
2. BYOB – Bring Liquor
Spike it how you like it! Drink prices are upwards of $10 for beer and $16 for a mixed drink. Make your own cocktails. We bring cups and make drinks in the room before headed down the beach and pool. Even pack a corksicle container on the side which will hold your Round 2 or 3. Always know where your ice machine is!
Where to purchase alcohol in Nassau? 3 options we’ve used:
- The airport has a very convenient duty free shop right after you make it through Customs at the Nassau airport. Stock up before you head to the resort.
- Another option is most car services will offer to stop at a liquor store before your final destination for a fee. We recommend Sandra’s Transportation – great service and for an additional $30 they will take you to a grocery story and liquor store. We’ve used them twice now.
- Would you rather get a delivery service? Flying Dutchman is your option! Give them a call to place your order, and they’re shockingly fast! Like, 20 mins after the phone hung up they were there, pulling around the lobby entrance and bag drop area, with our goods.
Tip: If you love wine like us, don’t forget a wine key. Most do not have them in the room.
Tip: We also have brought a small collapsable cooler. Great to have on the room for extra ice bucket (Baha Mar’s was tiny) and can also bring it down to the pool in your beach bag. Even more helpful to have as the provided in room ice bucket is extremely small, and there is no fridge for use.
3. Kids under 5 eat free
Yup – free at Baha Mar! Chicken tenders and fries will cost you about $17 by the pool but if your child is 5 or under it’s free. This is a perk Atlantis doesn’t have.
Participating restaurants for the Kids Eat-Free Program at Baha Mar and SLS:
- 3 Tides
- Cafe Boulud
- Costa
- Cleo
- Cinko
- Carna
- Drift
- Katsuya
- Fi’lia
- Marcus (unreal, our favorite meal)
- Out Island Bar
- Regatta
- Stix
- The Palms

Tip: Both resorts have amazing top notch restaurants. Pre-plan and make reservations for your dinner. We will splurge a few nights on dinners and then plan a few other dinners at the less expensive restaurants (usually pizza – still yum).
Tip: Every single restaurant will automatically add gratuity charge to your bill AND 12% for VAT (tax). Keep the added fees in mind when you budget for your trip.
Tip: Best quick lunch meal we had, but does not participate in Kids Eat Free, was Umami Burger out at Baha Bay. Mouthwatering, supreme quality quick service burgers. And you can watch people wipe out on the Flowrider while you eat!
4. Eat local
Eating off property your going to likely save coin. Arawak Cay is also popularly known as ‘The Fish Fry’. You get all sorts of Bahamian seafood here at reasonable prices including conch fritters, conch salad, snapper & lobster.
5. Free refills
Baha Mar and Atlantis have refillable cups. Baha Mar’s is $12 and Atlantis is $14. Great for those who like soda! And for those who like soda water with their adult beverage (see 2.)
6. Use points
It’s almost always a good idea to use your points than save them (if you have them). For a while, I was a point hoarder. Watching them add up, but for what? We use them for flights and our hotel stays. World of Hyatt (Baha Mar) and Marriot Bonvoy (Atlantis) rewards members can rack up points with your stay!
7. Always check room charges before checkout.
Our latest trip to Baha Mar, we told the kids to not touch the mini fridge. Everything is censored and we didn’t eat or drink anything. Just from them touching things it rang up a quick charge of $75!
The front desk sent someone up to validate our charges and quickly removed them.
